i wonder what they're basing their claims on......
been using soilless (usually sunshine 4 or promix hp) for damn near 20 years now, and the pH certainly fluctuates over the course of a grow, and you can certainly overnute in it.

that and 5.5 - 5.7 is a touch low for my liking...... if that's what they claim it buffers to (which it doesn't).
Pro-mix BX? I'll stick with the Pro-mix HP for now as you are going to lose some of the porosity via amendments. Looks to me like the Happy Girl online store's purchasing agent went a little overboard with a Pro-mix order and now they have to clear out inventory. In any case, some of the statements regarding hydroponic growing are fanciful. Pro-mix requires no pH adjustments, a chimp could grow plants with it. Rockwool, however, does require pH management but that is hardly much of a burden and the increased yield more than makes up for the extra efforts required indoors.

yeah i have to agree with you on this. every time my ph reaches that low i get all kinds of problems, mainly p and salt build up.

I have been using the Promix BX brand for 10 years at least! I love it, no additives but nutrients. Also comes in high perosity for water farmers.. I always PH though :/ dont know wtf shes sayin.. but BX is Great stuff!!!

checking the runoff is a good indicator of a medium's buffering capacity at the time of watering.
except that isn't a good indication of pH stability.... a lot of the fluctuation happens during the actual nitrogen uptake by the root hairs, which will continue to happen until your next watering.

The link you gave does have a video and the read is only a few paragraphs long. Interesting, I just bought my first bail of Pro Mix HP last month. I use tap water set out for at least 24 hours. It comes out at a ph of 7.0 so by the time I add the nutes it is almost always within range anyway but this is nice to know if it is true.

just add dolimite lime to ur soil-soilless mix and u dont have to worry bout ph, thats all promix does
