I hope that you all find enjoyment through observing these presentations! PPFD is an incredibly important principle. And as such, properly defining it is of utmost importance.

One might even venture to say the importance of spectrum is inversely proportional to the degree by which light spreads from the array, throughout the canopy.

Looks like you put alot of work into that, you do know a goniometer can test the lights and you can get the IES file to simulate a grow room on computer right?

We've looked into various instruments used by third-party labs, so I'm familiar. I'd be interested in playing with such tools in the future. It's nice to know fancy equipment / procedures isn't always necessary to come up with useful calculations, though. Computers are quite the instrument in and of themselves! :)

I have tested a computer simulation to RL and they are very accurate. I own a goniometer so it makes things easy for me to check

We set up a solskin board from cutter electronics on the goniometer, we tested one board. With the test results we then placed 4 of the boards into a program called Dialux which is a 3D program used for lighting buildings to view intensity. By moving the boards around we were able to find the most even spread on the canopy on the computer. Then a real life set up was made with the boards at the same spacing and height as the computer simulation. Then measurements were taken with a par meter and compared to the simulation. The results were quite close to each other
