hey guys i have heard that its bad to flower plants from seeds before the pre flowers show... is this true and what do the pre flowers look like... also i have also heard that if you flower b4 the plants have alternating stems thats to early as well... are the alternating stems on the main trunk of the plant or can it be off its side stems?

Pre-flowers are the plants way of telling us that it's mature enough to reproduce. Pre-flowers look like a grain of wheat, located at the base of the node ( where leaves emerge from the stalk) I'm sure Mogie has a picture or two.

You asked if it is "bad" to flower b4 they show, yes and no.
If your looking for yeild, I would let your plants grow in vegitation for at least 7 weeks or 24'' tall, what ever comes first.
But it will surley flower even if they haven't shown pre-flowers.
Some strains don't branch as well as others, therefore a "dominant cola" method is perferred.
I like to grow in veg. to 24'', then "lollypop" the plant, cutting off the lower less producing branches forcing the growth to the tops. Wait 5-7 days to recover from shock, then flip the light schedule to 12/12.:peace:
 
no problem, I forgot to mention the two hairs that stick out of the calyx (pre-flower) that is the female indicator. Males have a pod that is attached by a small shaft. like a teardrop shape on a stick.
