hey guys whats up? so I have 5 plants going in a closet growbox. Two of them are much more mature than the other three, and were probably planted like 3 weeks earlier. On my two more mature plants, I discovered little balls around the top new-growth areas. I tried to get a picture but couldn't. I don't think I really needed to because it was obviously a male so I mercilessly chopped his ass down and disposed of him. It gave me a good chance to study the root structur though, which was extremely healthy. I thought it would have been a good idea to put an inch, inch and a half of rocks at the bottom of the pot, but when I pulled the stump and rootball out, all the rocks came right with it. The roots grew all the way through and across the bottom, even with an entire layer of stones there. I guess I won't do that next time. More medium is probably better than rocks on the bottom, I just thought that it would ensure the bottom roots never got drenched during watering. I guess I was wrong. That plant I destroyed yesterday was my absolute favorite, so it sucked to have to whack him.
Its not all bad though. As you can see in the pics below I have preflowers on my other more mature plant. I posted a pic asking about it's sex about a week ago and you guys were right it seems, it is a lady. though the pic I posted probably was a bit too soon, these REAL preflowers only showed up about 3 days ago.
They've been on 12/12 for 12 days. The other 3 plants are a different 'bagseed' strain and are much smaller and haven't done much in the way of showing sex yet, but I saw a thread on here once where a guy was asking about flowering and his plants didn't show sex for a solid month, but blew up after that..
So these preflowers are on the tops of the plant. There are like 4 or 5 of them ALL together, and its been that way for a few days. Is it normal for the preflowers to start on the tops and work their way down? or does there seem to be a problem? Because of sub-par soil with low drainage I can't water as much as I'd like (I have a plant in low-light recovery room from overwatering. this is after not watering for 9 days, I figured I HAD to water it!) and since I cant water as often I can't give it nutes as often. There are lower leaves that are yellowing, and even dying off, and the leaves are a LITTLE lighter green than I would like, so could a nutrient problem be why the preflowers aren't popping up everywhere, or spreading faster? Even with the problems I just stated this plant is REALLY healthy. Its standing straight up, looks really bright and alive. I hope not to get any earth shattering news, but was just wondering about preflowers as this is my first grow.
also.. do preflowers show up in veg?
how long could I expect to see actual bud production after preflowers.
