i am not pre. germinating so when i put my seeds in the soil do i put light on it i have them in a plastic little box with a led thank you

never heard of that 12/12 thing, but hey, if it works, thats great! id personally stick with the 18/6. i always germ mine with light, and iv had a 100% germ rate, so it really does depend on what u wanna do.

well ok thanks one says yes one says no confusing' right now i have them under flores. anybody else would help again thanks

well gangjababy thanks but that's not the question do you know if i use lights for germinating my seeds in soil i have some bubblelicious and don't what to screw them up

here is the pics of the gear i use.
one shows the cheap plastic prop with the clear lid(humidity dome).
one shows a dry jiffys and shows how they fit in the prop nicely(room for 20 jiffys).
the pic of the swollen jiffy shows you how i prep them soak them in warm water untill fully soaked then just squeeze the excess water out and shape it how it looks in the pic.
and one pic just shows what kind of weight you want the jiffy to be once prepped.
if i am planting maybe 10 seeds then i will weigh each jiffy to 38g to give consistency with the moisture level you can give them a light misting of water after 12 hrs and that will do untill they sprout.
once this is done just make a small 5mm deep hole in the top of your prepped jiffys and just simply drop the seeds in there holes straight out the packet cover them slightly with some peat from the jiffy put them in the prop put the lid on and keep in a drawer in TOTAL DARKNESS make sure the temps are 21-23* and you are most definately going to get 100% germ rate within 70-85 hrs.
i have done over 60+ seeds for various people just to get their sprouts started and never had one not sprout.as soon as you see the peat cracking at the top of the pellet and life coming(any whiteness from the embrio/seed)then remove them from the dark and start your 18/6. NO LIGHT UNTILL THEN ONLY A QUICK CHECK ON PROGRESS.
i may do 6 seeds shortly for a friend and when i do i will show you the sprout as it cracks the jiffy surface.
[EDIT]
(this info is from and earlier thread were i was explaining to someone how i germinate my seeds in to sprouts).

So would it take longer then 70-85 hours with old bagseeds roughly about 3-4 years old?

old tired seeds 3-4 years old can take up to 3 weeks to sprout if they are still viable.

DARKNESS UNTILL THEY SPROUT.
you can put them under light but i have never done it this way and even when the seed/s are planted into the soil and put under lights the seed is still in darkness as the light wont penetrate the soil.
seeds are always germed in the dark.
in jiffys under soil(dark).
in papertowels(dark).
soaked in water in a glass in a dark cupboard(dark).
or planted below the soil(dark).

no way man, wait till they sprout then put it on 12/12 for like a week, helps promote females, then go to 18/6. Peace.
what a load of bollaks 12/12off helps promote growth.i would advise getting the seedlings started by the papper towel method but if you are going to go for this opsion then put the seeds in soil then put the light on 18/6 or even 24 hour constant light dont be to stressed if growing this way take a little longer for the seedling to show them selfs.go for the papper towel method put some towel on the bottom of a saucer and spray this papper towel with water ph of around 5.0/5.5 make sure that the papper is nice and wet then put the seeds on. add a drop of multithrive to each litre of water. And put another saucer on top same size has the first then put in a carry bag wrap the bag around to keep the moisture in they should be done in a couple of days but they can take up to a week but itis alot faster than the way you was gonna do.This is called the clam method.

never use paper towels(they suck).

Requirements for Germination
Before the seed fell, almost all of its water was sapped to prepare the seed for winter. With only the tiny drop that it holds, the embryo lives a life so slow as to be outside of time as we know it. Cannabis seeds need only water to germinate or sprout. The seeds germinate without light and at temperatures low enough to form ice. Higher temperatures hasten germination. Fresh, homegrown Oaxacan seeds germinated in three days at 70F and in eight days at 33F. Temperatures 70 to 90F are best for germination.
Fresh, mature seeds have a high rate of germination (about 90 to 100 percent) and sprout quickly. Usually sprouts appear three to seven days after planting. Older seeds (over a year, depending on storage) have a lower rate of germination and respond slower. They may take up to three weeks to sprout.
Seeds that do sprout will grow normally, no matter how old they are or how long they take to sprout. From any batch of seeds, most of the ones that sprout will do so within two or three days of each other. A few will continue to come up as many as six months later, but the garden should consist of plants that are basically the same age and size. This makes the garden easier to care for.
Choosing Seeds
Different varieties grow at different rates and attain different sizes and shapes. Under artificial lights, gardens plants from one batch of grass require the least attention, because the plants sprout and grow uniformly and can all be tended at the same time. When several varieties are grown together, some plants are taller than others; you must adjust the height of the plants to keep the marijuana equally illuminated. You may also have to water and fertilise the plants on an individual basis. Some growers start at different varieties under separate light systems. On the other hand, planting several varieties offers you a comparison in potency and yield, and a source for hybrids if you want to develop seed. The next time you plant you'll know which seeds gave the best results and what growing methods will work best for you.
There is no strict correlation between the form and height of the plants and seed size, colour, or pattern. However, some large-seeded varieties grow too tall, with long spaces between leaves. Under artificial lights they yield more stems than leaves. If you have a choice between two equally potent grasses, and one has particularly large seeds (3/16 to 1/4 inch), choose the smaller-seeded variety.
