So maybe 7 years ago or more when I was younger I put praying mantis eggs in a small pot on the side of my house, a week later they hatched and I got to watch them. 1000s of them were all around the yard.
7 years later, today, I look in my marijuana garden and I counted 16 baby praying mantis.
I have seen bigger ones around my house maybe a year ago, but I dont really look for them.
Now I have started to look for them and holy crap there are tons!
I wonder if these are from past generations of praying mantis that I hatched when I was like 15 or 16.
I have been doing research on these an I have learned that the babies eat spider mites, which is probably why they are on my plants, and they also like fruitflies, fungus gnats, worms, catapillers, basically anything smaller than them.
When they are bigger they eat fruitflies and other insects that are smaller than them.
I am happy to say that I am the father to 7-10 generations of praying mantis.
Before I saw these guys I was about to buy lady bugs, but now I have changed my mind.
I have seen these little guys at work on fungus gnats and it is pretty dope. I would recommend you growers to buy praying mantis eggs, because these things are probably the coolest creature to have in an outdoor or indoor grow. And they look like aliens.
Has anyone ever seen these creatures stick around there hatching zone? Especially 7 years later, because if they did that would be amazing.
