ppm/nutrient

Can someone explain a little better on how ppm and nutrients work. Let say if i started with tap water...how is ppm shown... let say i need the ppm at 800...but i need to add the 3 part nutrient. how do i do the ratios and etc because if i put more than the other the ppm would go up...im a bit confused when using the bloom grow and micro nutrient to get to 800 plus additives? sighs

get a ph/ec metre. because you cant guess these things and hope to get away with it, its not worth wasting your time if you dont know exactly what your plants are getting, you could try good soil it is a
lot less confusing.

Not that I have experience, but I have to wonder. If you know the strength of the nutes your using, you know whats in your water, with precise measurements, shouldn't you be able to replicate it without a meter? Are there environmental factors that effect this, because to me it seems like a matter of simple math and precision. I know in the hydro books I first read written back in the 60's they never even mentioned a meter, and that didn't seem to stop them from being successful. Please, correct me if this is a misconception.

im just wondering how it measures ppm with nutes. and when adding nutes and water. how it works

the meter usually can be set to read ppm or E.C. (or CF which is like ec but the decimal point is in a different place). most nutes ive used are about ec 1.0, at 2.5 to 3ml/ltr

i meant like lets say instead of using ro water which is at zero, i used reg tap water and it starts at 200ppm and im trying to hit 800ppm for plants. Do i add 600ppm of nutrients or add 800ppm of nutrients? also when adding nutrients at 1/2 strength, im guessing it doesnt matter on the ratios for each nutrient(micro, bloom, grow) as long as i do what the schedule says at 1/2 strenght correct?
