Power outage

Power was out for nearly 30 hours.

Burned 10 gallons of fuel in the generator to keep 1640W worth of lamps, exhaust fan, humidifier, cloner etc and my fridge all going. Not too bad, I'm glad I was prepared!

To run my Internet, laptop, TV and my Plex media system, I used the 100Ah battery that I charge with an MPPT solar charger through a DC-AC 3kW inverter.

I keep a 100W solar panel in my flower tent with the 1000W HPS to keep the battery charged :)

Welcome back to TnT.

You have been away for 5 years.

Nah, I moved way up to Northern British Columbia, Canada to start a self-sufficient life, and 90% of my time was spent outdoors. Had a property right on a lake with 1KM of frontage, with numerous outbuildings and cabins. Was going extremely well until we were evacuated and eventually had to move further south due to forest fires.

The worst part was I had a bunch of 8' tall Sour Diesel plants in my greenhouse just beginning to flower before I had to leave.

It was hard work; we had 4-4.5' of snow last winter for almost a full three months. Having my own paradise with nobody else around was awesome though.

I'll give it another go in a couple of years.

Besides electricity how about a deep well, water tower and fire suppression system?

We were on electrical grid, but it was extremely spotty, so most of my power was from solar and fuel generator, with all wood heat (wood furnace, wood stove and fireplace in the house, and wood stoves in all outbuildings and cabins).

Our water came from about 200 feet out in the lake, and another pump specifically for fire suppression, inside and outside of the house and the main outbuildings and cabins.

No water tower.

The end of the lake I was on is extremely sparsely populated.
