Power for my lights

So I need more power. I do not know much about this subject. I do not want to get into my fuse box and start nosing around. I have a hook up for an elctric stove that I am not useing. I thought of buiying a pigtail to plug into that outlet and wireing it to the box in the link listed below. I know the stove/dryer plug is on a 30 amp fuse. Can i do this safey?

Here is the wire I am going to use I think it may be wrong (i think i should have black white and red wires instead?)per the directions on the plug still 10 gauge with 3 wires though cause thats what both plugs are. Right? haha

has to have three wires plus the ground.4th is bare

what do I do with the 4th bare wire? my plug that im hookinh the wire to says black white and red and only has 3 prongs

The 3 wires on that plug are |HOT|NEUTRAL|HOT| it is a 240 volt plug. it appears that box is capable of 120/240 so it can work both ways. Make sure it is set to the voltage of your lights.

So you think I should use the wire that has 4 wires inside and just disreguard the bare ground wire? Thanks

You only need the 3 wire. 2 hot's and the ground. You do not put the neutral to a light controller box.

I think you should consult a professional electrician. Although electrical work is not rocket science, it could result in fires and/or melting wires and outlets, possibly even DEATH *GASP*

But seriously, you should try to either find a professional tutorial online and/or source the knowledge of a professional in your area. You don't have to explain what you're using it for to get some info.

Not sure what State you're in, but if you're in a MMJ State, contractors don't give a shit about your grow. My best friend is an electrician, and he gets calls all the time to wire grows. They just want the work.

Home done electrical jerryrigging is a major cause of fire....please be careful and hire someone. Hate to see a house and family and or pet burn/die over some stupid herb.

that third wire is NOT a ground. it is 2 hot 120 v each wires and a nuetral. NO GROUND in a 3 prong 240v range/dryer plug.
