Power Cloner distance from a 250W

I was just going to start using a power cloner and Im wondering if two an a half feet is a safe distance for a 250w MH? Thats the height Im working with because I use the 250w for my mother also. The light is not movable. Is this too much light at such a close distance for clones or will it be ok?
