one gallon per foot is a good rule of thumb. if you can afford it, give em one more i say.

im growing one plant in a 2 L coca cola bottle that i cut in half. lets seeee how big i can get in that small space

I've found that one gallon per month that the plant is alive is more than sufficient. Bigger and the roots don't even fill it out, and smaller and the yield takes a slight hit.
