pot size in relation to yeild?

ok guys i know there is a connection between pot volume and end yeild and the bigger the pot the bigger your yeild.

Well has anyone tried growing from seed to harvest in like 2 litres of soil or under? kinda like a soda pop bottle or similar sized pot?

would it be possible to yeild an ounce per plant this way using cfl's?

in theory it should work pretty well, but never tried it so i dunno, just wanting other peoples input on it if possible

Lol good luck trying mate. You'd be lucky to get an Oz off a good size plant in a large container using cfl's. IMO it's MH/HPS or you're just going to be thoroughly disappointed.
 
in that case im going to buy a 400w hps for flowering stage, least that way il make the most of the smaller plants and yeild the most i possibly can.
 
An ounce takes a vigorous plant, regardless of planter size. IMO, inside grows don't need more than a couple of gallon containers in most cases. It's not like a tornado is going on in my closets. They do need enough room to feed, though, inferring width might be more important than depth, within reason.
 
ok guys they have been in veg for around 16/17 days and there doing fine, they have stayed short but stubby about 4-5 inches tall, going to flower them in the next couple of days.

I have a feeling this will work pretty well, i intend on cloning all of them tomorrow with intention to put 2 ladys into flower every 2 weeks, should be enough smoke for my personal needs.
 
and if your wondering why i do it this way in soda bottles is coz if i got busted by cops where i live they wud laff as in soda bottles is jus way too noobish to be considered a commercial grow, hence avoiding jail time.
 
thank u very much 4 this link, ur da man! im not gonna get an hps jus gonna use my 650w of cfl's instead, cant wait for the outcome, i wont be dissapointed if i only get 7g per plant, i can fit like 15 soda bottles in closer but only four 3 gallon pots. so if i get 7g per plant, 2 plants harvest every 2 weeks, 14g every 2 week smoke, enuff 4 me, sorted

im also flowering that small, started 12/12 yesterday plants at 5th node and about 16 days old...the reason being i need enough time for them to flower for 60 days and i have to be gone in early december... im hoping for something just like you 7-14g's per plant. good luck man

iv grown before in like 3 gallon pots so i know roughly how much can be grown with that sort of limit but your limited with cfl's anyway, on my last grow i vegged for 4 weeks till they got 12" tall, there was no point tho coz all the side/lower branches never got enuff light.

however i did yeild 4 ounces of 4 plants, about an ounce per plant, and the conditions were far from perfect.

i switched to 12/12 two days ago, they already shot up by about 1-2 inches, im hoping for one main cola per plant, no side branches etc jus a fat cola per plant and id be very happy.

this is bullshit. CFLs can be almost as good as hps if used correctly

c'mon man, you haven't seen ANY good grows from CFLs? if thats the case i think thats ignorance. no offense
 
thats insane what that guy did in the link. uh i feel like an idiot with a 400 and 2 liter bottles. he has cfls and coke cans. 1 ounce a plant. damn. i wanna due that. help!

hey dude thats kinda like my setup but with 500ish watts of cfl currently, have u grown in 2 litre bottles b4? if so what did u yeild?

how far in r u?

He's right in some respects, an OZ from a small plant under CFL's would be pushing it I agree, BUT I've seen (and smoked) some VERY fine CFL grown herb in the past, every bit as good as HPS grown herb IMO, dont ever think quality will suffer with CFL's! I've sampled some beautiful G13x strains grown with love and skill under CFL's BUT the guy averaged around 21 grams-ish max, once he changed to 400HPS he doubled that using the same grow methods (soil, organics + plenty of experience!). Depends on how much you smoke I guess :-) CFL's would do me fine as I only smoke between 7 to 10 g per month.

Hope you dont mind me chipping in here!..... I'm a refugee from HG420 and Marihemp (9 years a member), both fine forums currently down :-( ......... 50 years old and been growing a LONG time!

Good luck with those CFL's keep em as close as you can.

*Edited to add* If I were growing CFL I would go with simple SCROG method.....why? ....Because the one down side of CFL growing is that lower buds dont get as much light due to lack of penetration into the canopy...... scrog is an obvious and easy way round this, it presents all of the buds at the same height below the bulbs.
