Pot size for Super Soil

Im brand new to growing and just trying to gather info right now so this might be a dumb question. Ive been reading about Super Soil and I think I will give it a go. But my question is this. I plan on a small grow going 12/12 from seed and I just read a post about burning with super soil. Is there a min pot size I should use or will the 50/50 general rule take care of the proportions well enough? I was just going to use a 1 gallon smart pot since Im limited on space and the fact that its 12/12 from seed but I think my plant might need to mature a little before reaching the rich super soil. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Have you read the super soil post by subcool? It covers amounts. The bigger the pot the better harvest. If you just wanna grow just to grow you Lil pot will be just fine. If you wanna grow major dank with fatty yields 7gal pot minimum. Check out subcool420 on YouTube he has a super soil video in case you don't feel like reading.

Like the chef said, bigger the pot the better. My plants vegged for 2 weeks in 3g smart pots are always significantly smaller than my plants vegged for 2 weeks in 7g smart pots. Keep in mind that you're growing organic so your soil is your food more so than growing with chems.

Can you direct me to the post you are talking about? Ive read the recipe and other various posts about super soil but missed the answer to my question. Im growing just for myself. Not too concerned about yield right now, just quality. I would go with the 7 gallon pot but Im limited to about 36" tall indoors. I'd really like to keep the first few under 30" max...whether it be with smaller pots and/or LST. I just like the idea of just water, possibly a few nutes toward the very end, most likely in the form of a tea. Again, all advice is appreciated.

When smart pots get larger they generally get larger in diameter and not taller - my 65g smart pots are only 1.5' tall. I want to say that 1 and 3g are the same height and then 5,7,10 are just a few inches taller but all the same height as eachother. I would recommend a 7g and just roll the edges down so that is is as tall as a 1/3g - same height but itll hold ~5g. Or at least a 5g and roll the edges down to hold ~4g.

True. I forget sometimes that volume increases the diameter more than the height in some circumstances That helps a lot. But how should I layer the soil for growing straight from 12/12? I would think it needs more base soil at the top and probably do a top dressing with super soil towards the end of the grow.

As long as you cured your super soil you should just mix it all evenly. Super soil and organic gardening is great because it releases the nutrients over time. If you followed the recipe correctly it will release nitrogen first for vegetative growth, then the P becomes available for flowering (bone meal takes longer to break down)... Just mix it up, if you make layers you'll be exposing your plant to too much nitrogen late in flower... And if you have healthy plants your roots will be at the bottom of a 5g smart pot by the third week of veg so all layering will do is make nutrients harder to get at for certain portions of the root system.
