Pot/Grow Bag Size, What's Your Take?

So I know Sub uses 7 gallon buckets but I was wondering what the rest of you guys use and what your experience is with different sized buckets/grow bags.

I am leaning towards using 7 to 10 gallon grow bags but they don't seem to have the depth that a traditional bucket does. Does that matter? I'd like to hear what people's experience is comparing the two as well. Buckets vs. Bags (specificaly air pruning types). Thanks for all input given.

As long as you have the same volume of container, it won't change much. I've heard people rave on and on about those Smart Pot style fabric bags, but I tried them and didn't notice much of a difference in soil. I think they make a bigger difference when growing in pure coco coir.

The only thing that might change for you if you use a bag that is wider than it is tall is that it increases what is called the "drip line" of the plant. And basically what happens is, the wider the container, the bushier the plant will grow. But it isn't very dramatic and the change will be pretty subtle.

Roots primary ingredient is coco, and while I didn't use Roots for my base I cut the soil I used with quite a bit of coir. Bushy is what I am looking for so it looks like grow bags are the way to go for me. Thanks.

pure coco grows can get away with smaller root balls when comparing yield to soil plants.

iv been using at least a 5 gall. smart pot for my plants under a 600w, with super soil and roots organic. im switching it up to coco next run and I plan on using 3gallons for the same size plants.
