“Before you take that first curious, coerced, spiteful, or vengeful step forward, remember this: it’s a thousand times easier to slip into a muddy pit than it is to climb out of one.”

"Whosoever diggeth a pit shall fall in it".

Only reason I know that is because Bob Marley song Small Axe written by Lee Perry and then of course it's the bible because "These are the words of my Master...".

“The mask of art is the means through which corruption is spread. The mask makes vice seem beautiful, turns squalor and nastiness into glamorous thrill, seduces the onlooker into the game – and leaves him or her with the corpse on his hands.”

the mask of art?....art isn't a mask, it's the true face of the artist....it's an expression of the artist's life....if you aren't capable of seeing it, you're the one with the problem.
do NOT confuse propaganda with art....

It’s what it says. The mask of art. Masking true motives under the eloquent guise of artistic truth and integrity. . ^^^ what was the FIRST thing you associated to the thought of art? That it’s “real” and from an honest part of the artists soul. hence how the artist gets away with promoting his or her view point whether political or personal without coming across as a villain.

all art is propaganda when you look at it that way. all art is an expression of the artist's views. every religious masterpiece ever painted is propaganda. Guernica is propaganda.
all an artist can create is what's inside their minds. it's up to the viewer to decide what it means. the aritst can have any intent they want, and if the viewer doesn't see it that way, the artist's intentions are meaningless.
