Possible light stress, Help needed!

Running 4-26w cfl 6500k's and 2-27w cfl 5000k about an inch away from tops, temperature averaging 80f, watering once a day early light, and constant fan!

Seedlings are 4 days out of the soil and have been looking beautiful, but today about hour 14 of 18 light I noticed some browning on the edges of leaves only a one spot on one and two on another!

could anybody help shine some light on thiis senario?

Sorry no pics having issues! Thanks in advance, The F.F.A.

put lights back. 1 inch is too close. even with alot of wind 1 inch is gonna burn the tips.

I do like 2 inch and move apart when plant gets to like 1 inch of it. The light should in general be kept closer when there is alot of vegitation thats growing under the top layer.

Put your thermometer at canopy level then check what temps you get.........second seedlings are sensitive and you should never start them off with so much light......don't put your light too far away but start further than an inch......as time goes by your plants will be able to handle the intensity of the light so you will be able to get the light closer and closer.....

Thanks guys, before grow started everything i read said more light more light and more light, i even felt like what i had to start wasn't enough, also read a few places said cfl's wouldn't burn unless they were touching... I guess i proved all of them wrong, DAMN IT!

Thanks again for the help, and Ill try to get some pics up soon!

Love, The F.F.A.

So whats the temp at canopy level? can you keep the back of your hand where the canopy is for a few minutes without it getting uncomfortabley warm?sounds like the heat from the bulb is the problem, not the light from it.

I have a temp gauge at every plant canopy reading 80f, I was told in between 75 and 85 was ideal, is that right?

Also while i'm getting some good advice here, does any one know how much water i should be using a day for young seedlings in 5" planters? I just water slowly until some comes out the bottom then I stop!

Have you been letting your soil dry before watering and it needs it everyday or just been watering everyday regardless? I give at least as much water as the plants container size is, let the soil dry out and then water again next time it needs it.lift a container the size of the ones your using w/dry soil, now saturate that soil and let it drain out again and lift it up, feel the difference? u want to water right before you get to the dry soil repeat that and you'll do great. after a few weeks you'll be able to tell instantly by lifting it when and if the plants need water.

Ive been sticking my finger in to see how dry, but ive been afraid of letting it dry completly so I water when it is slightly damp. I water till the first drop comes out the bottom then quit, i'm also still using distilled water.

Thanks this is been more than helpful, I know first times are trial and error so I figure the more imput the better the odds. They should have a certified degree we could earn for some of this shit!
