positive effects ph levels???

are there any desired effects of having the ph at either threshold of the spectrum, 5.8 and 6.8?In other words, what positive effects manifest from slightly more acid water over alkaline, and vice versa?
 
your water needs to be that ph so your plants can absorb the nutrients properly through their roots, without acid ph your plants would lock out nutrients, become defiecent, and in effect, die
 
Shrug, if you had an ultra controlled setup then I suppose you could benefit from doing this. I dont have a chart handy but things like nitrogen, manganese and a few others are WAY more available at lower ph's, but other nutrients are totally locked out at this ph.

Best mix I have found is to have a nice swing in your ph. from like 5.5 to 6.2 or so. Depends on your plant tho.

and also i was talking 5.6-5.8 for hydro and 6.0 - 6.5 for soil, also ive grown sativas in hydro that like 6.2, nutes do not get locked out at this level at all, im sorry thats incorrect, nutrients wont really start locking out bad until you hit the 6.9 - 7.0 range in hydro and 7.5+ in soil, then youll really start to see problems, ive grown 6.3 sativas in hydro setups and high 7s with sativa in dirt but hey thats just my experience. again not saying 5.3 to 5.9 isnt ideal because it is ( for indicas anyways ) thats actually my ph right now and im growing 2 sativas, some plants prefer different things all are different your best bet is to grow the same strain multiple times to really dial it in

again all plants prefer different ppm levels but here is a SERIOUS generalization (if you even can) of ppm for marijuana, seedlings 0-100ppm, sprout to 5-6 nodes 300-400ppm, veg stage 400-600ppm, late veg- start of flower 600-800ppm, full flower to late flower 1000-1200 and start dropping around week 6 to insure a proper flush although im not big on flushing, if you grow em right you wont need to flush, anyways this is a bad generalization, ALL plants are different and some cannot handle 1200 ppm, ive burnt plants before using 1000ppm, so be careful and listen to your plant it will tell you what she likes

ph allows the plant to absorb nutrients so the further away from the desired ph level the harder it is for the plant to absorb its food
