a friend at school was given approx. 500 seeds from his friend, he gave me about half for free. these seeds were picked out of the bud. if i planted a bunch just in the soil (no pot) and there was a male would it produce pollen and if so would it jump to every other plant if they are females? sorry if its hard to understand but hopefully you know what im talking about. thanks for the help.

yep thats right, im assuming you are planning to plant and forget them and hope to come back to a field of green, lol, but sadly unless you can get out there around fall when they start to show their sex and pull the males, you will get seeds, and not very good weed.
Before it produces pollen it would have to grow and also be male. Additionally you will need need it to flower so the number of dark hours in the day needs to be around 12.
If you did everything right yes some of the seeds you have will produce males and others females, yes the males will pollinate the females if you dont cut them down. Finally yes you will have LOTS more seeds if you dont remove males.

yeah peter parker your right i was planning on doing that for like 20 seeds and actually taking care of like 5-10, so for the plants to be pollenated they would have to be in there flowering stage already? and would the male plants cause a threat to the females before the flowering stage?

no the males won't hurt the females until they start flowering which outdoors would be around fall for most strains. even when the males start to show they aren't too much of a threat cause they don't start dropping pollen right away, but unless you want seeds you want to get rid of the males ASAP
