Meh.

I don't really like the new hyped up high thc strains.

I think overall the quality has went up from dealer to dealer but I don't think weed is stronger than it used to be. Just more readily available.

There is a reason why people are looking for those old strains.
OK, but let me ask you this then.

Do you think you could make equally potent cookies say 25 years ago with what was around back then?

Most definitely. Back in the day (early 90's) we used to make a low powered batch of brownies with a 1/4 oz of brick weed.If we wanted them super potent we'd use a full oz of brick weed or a quarter of indoor. The brick weed was usually 60-75$ an oz and indoor was 100$ a quarter so usually we'd go with the brick weed. These days I'm spoiled to using this good hash in Europe. 5 grams of fire hash in a batch of brownies is a great buzz.

No. I'll take anything from 1973 - 1978 over everything today, just my opinion (but I was there) Most of the hash we got back then had tons of opium in it too! Nice!

* I would add that I grew and bred NL5 and the real skunk from 85 to 95 and that wasn't even as good as the stuff back in the 70s, but it was a lot better than most anything today, I honestly don't know what's happened to cannabis in the 20 years that I was mostly away ?

Also if you're talking about weed from the 90s then you weren't there in the sixties and seventies and you don't know. Not trying to start an argument, just stating a fact.

Yes. Maybe even stronger if it's with the strains that people are looking for.

I think the whole pot is stronger is just more reefer madness.

I personally like Mexican brick strains if grown out properly. I think it's more that with legalization that more people got access to high quality weed and started to demand it or go elsewhere so the quality has went up.

My preference is older or landrace strains.

May just be my preference.

Maybe it's just because it's what I smoked in my youth and that's why I want it.

I just find it hard to believe that humans have been using cannabis for thousands of years and in the last 30-40 that pot all of a sudden got that much better.

Last time I made cannabutter I used 2 zips of outdoor in a lb. of butter.

Made 48 cookies. Eat a whole one and your mind will race like a motherfucker in about 45 minutes to an hour. Uncomfortable beyond 1/2 a cookie.

I made brownies with 2 oz. in the '70's. Not the same.

Yeah, I'd like to get seeds for that old time gold weed.

And there was an exotic 'White Colombian' we got a few times. Real light green and racy.

Where the fuck you'd find that is beyond me. Probably need a passport and a plane ticket.

I can't say I classify as an oldtimer but I've smoked well over half my life. The one thing I have never understood is why does the stuff I grow blow everything I buy out of the water? I am not trying to say I am a that good at growing but there is just no comparison. The only conclusion I can come up with is that the majority of what i buy is indoor commercial and I do outdoor personal(I do indoor in the winter just for the growing fix and it's better too). With that being said lack of uv may be part of it but idk. I honestly think I can put plants out and not touch them till harvest and still make better bud than what I can buy around here. The only exception for this is one time in high school a girl I smoked with regularly brought a j to share. I was high for 6+ hrs and after the first hour I puked. 90% sure it was laced but if it wasn't I would love to know what strain that was. Red state also so I am sure that also plays into what I can get.

I believe that.

Here's the thing though.

I can follow the same recipe and use the same bud and the batches be different.

I don't know why but it happens.

I'd love to find that high school high again. I'm not sure if it's age that has made a difference, or just the shear amount of crossing this with that has F'd everything up. I'm not saying weed isn't good these days. I can say getting high isn't like it use to be.

I think a lot is tolerance. I smoke light before work and at lunch and heavy at night. On 420 I gave 3 of my coworkers brownies I made from autos that didn't turn out that great. All three are late 50s and smoked back in the day and 2 of the 3 still smoke ocassionally. Of course I tried them before I gave them out. I ate one and was pretty disappointed. They ate one each(I gave them 3 each and told them to eat one and a half). All three said they were way too strong. One guy had a pleasant side effect tho. He said his arthritis didn't bother him for about a week. I attribute that to the high cbd in the autos.

Yep, I agree. It was the age. It was the general feeling -the 'vibe' (there's an old word for ya!). I remember it as a time when the feeling was to try and be peaceful. I guess that mindset, plus the weed that we were getting, at the time, kind of worked like a synergy.

Yeah, I hear you.

Decarbing has something to do with the end result. I'm sure there's a perfect temp. and length of time, I just can't guarantee I hit perfection every time. Jar to jar of the same strain can vary.

I've never been too disappointed so I must get close, but batch to batch can vary with nothing changing that I can pick up on.

Maybe it has to do with the environment. Better transfer during certain ambient temp and humidity?

The plants sure react to the outside weather even in the air conditioned/ heated humidified/ dehumidifier house.
