creed
  • a set of beliefs or aims which guide someone's actions.
"not everyone follows a creed of acceptance and understanding"

this can also be political in nature ie. you cannot be discriminated against for which party you support.

can you be discriminated against for being homeless and what would it be called?

i had nothing to do and decided to read the FHA rules and regs.

creed is no longer in this list but neither is political affiliation.

The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National Origin
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • Familial Status
  • Disability

how could political affiliation not be in this list?

These days, politics could fall under religion.

Also, google "language: a key mechanism of control" for some interesting reading.

Political affiliation is not a protected class under the FHA.

what happens when a Property Manager tells you you're not getting a new lease because it reverts month-to-month and your payment amount to stay the same (in writing) then 7 days later tells all residences that you will get a new lease and there will be a $30 increase for those who moved in after 8/20, regardless of apartment size and those prior to 8/20, will be case-by-case.

Um, WTF?

isn't there a law in Fair Housing that would cringe at the above discrimination?

Okay, so what's happening is that you have this friend and they live in an apartment complex and they've gotten politically crossways with the property manager and now your friend is being treated differently when it comes to lease renewals? I'd say that your friend will probably be protected, but they're going to need to start making some phone calls.

done and done..here's where paying your rent on time, every time (once 3 months in advance) is to your advantage.
