Was at work today and police knocked at my door. It was a normal on the beat copper in a panda car with another one sitting in the car. What are the chances of it being about growing mj. Can normal on the beat cops be in possession of a warrent? Surely if they can then both would have been at the door and not one of them waiting in the car. I recently lost my wallet so hopefully it was them returning it. Does anyone have an opinion, and whether I should chop my plants down and re start if it comes to nothing?

depedning on how many your growing they would not know your growing. where are you growing? e.g. attic? bedroom? if they thought you were growing i think they would have just booted the door down, not knocked and give you a heads up. i am also in the uk just so you know

well i got raided last year and they had about 10 coppers in full riot gear so i think you prob will b safe, if you have less than 40 plants and you aint got a record you will b fine lol

I'm growing 7 plants. 2 i put in the attic last night under a cfl, two in a cupboard at the top of stairs and two in the kitchen on the window sill. Hardly your average international drug dealer am I lol. Have just grown 4 Hash Bomb plants in hydro in the garage. Not too smelly but maybe neighbour got a whiff. So it may be she grassed me up!

dnt worry about 7 plants if they raid you just say you where growing them for personal use only because you dont want to get involved with drug dealers... works a treat

yes they can but they need a warrent unless you invite them in (which you never should) and they would usualy come with more than two of them. dont worry yourself they wouldent do anything but give you a caution if you stick with the growing for percey story 
I get random drug/alcohol tests with my job, so will just say its for my mrs. Yes I did have a carbon filter in the garage. But when I park my bike in there she says some the bike fumes waft into her upstairs bedroom. So maybe a the mj wafted in there! I'm shitting it to be honest

Yeh, don't invite them in, but, they don't need a warrant if they suspect a law being broken. The odour of weed being enough of a suspicion...

Had a whole fire crew storming in my house one evening. Faulty smoke detector! Lucky it wasn't the one in my bedroom....phew!

If the police knocks, don't open. They wouldn't be knocking if they had a warrant.

Even if it was a bench warrant for failure to appear, there would have been more than one at your door.
Usually if nobody answers, cops at least leave a business card asking you to contact them and to let you know they have been there...... At least they always did to me when they came to investigate reports of gunshots from my property.
You very well may be right about them returning your wallet, but I am still surprised if they didn't leave you some kind of notice.
