I am about a third of the way through a closet grow in my new apartment. I have done this before with great results. This morning I noticed these almost invisible little gnat looking bugs jumping around in my soil. fortunately no damage to plant YET! I don,t know what they are exactly and I need a good way to get rid of them before I loose my girls. I'm on a tight budget and would rather not use chemicals if I dont have too but whatever it takes. Please hel!!!! I appreciate the time

If they jump when startled then its just springtails.

Springtails are detrivorous feeders, feeding on decaying matter and fungi.

They aren't detrimental and are a part of soil ecology.

They are unsightly though.

Jumpy little buggers. Lol.

Oh ok. I was so worried Ive never had them before. So its ok to preceed as usual? is there anything I should be looking for just in case its not springtails??

Yeah you should be looking to positively identify them.

Descriptions are not as good as pictures for definitive confirmation.

If they are actually flying they are probably fungus gnats. Letting your pots dry out well helps, a layer of sand helps also. I'll stop there as you are against chemicals.
