Smoked for the first time in my life 6 days ago. I had chest pains for a day then the next day I had an anxiety attack then I woke up with anxiety and have had it up to right at this moment (4 days after the anxiety attack) When will it go away?? Has this happened to anyone else?

It has, you can relax, nothing is going to happen to you.
You should consult your physician and not forums when it comes to health, but if you want an educated guess the anxiety attack is most likely a sign of some underlying psychological distress you might even be unaware of ...however silly this might sound to you. Also, for some people cannabis brings out anxiety and paranoia ...it happens.

Even a week after? How long does it normally take to go away?

Weed doesn't agree with everyone. My lil sis for example (22yo). Last time she asked me for a cone. She freaked out and thought she was literally dead.

My gf is the same. It doesn't agree with her either. Last time she smoked a bowl with me. She was sick for half an hour. Both times I had the same stuff they did. And no effect.

I get the odd sensation of my heart feeling like it's pumping harder than it should be. But, that's about it. I don't freak out about it though.

You may just be one of those people who can't smoke it. Or maybe it was the strain you had. Blue Dream was what I had on both instances with my gf and sister. I won't offer that one again.

Not knocking the BD either. I thought it was pretty good shit.

dylanw73 can you elaborate on your anxiety ? How do you feel? What worries you, what are you afraid of ?
Is there anything else happening in your life this period out of the ordinary ?

I'm anxious about having this anxiety and heavy heartbeat forever. I mean sometimes the anxiety pushes me to start thinking about existential fears but I really don't think that is the root because I mostly don't care about my existential fears. Also I smoked "the wrong way" and had intense chest burning after I took every hit. So the after effect of that could be the heavy heartbeat and then anxiety just builds off the heartbeat but I'm not sure.

you experienced something new which wasn't pleasant, which might have led to a chest burn (which most of us experience) which in turns triggers your apprehension and worries ..which in turn trigger your sympathetic nervous system and you feel your heart racing or actual chest pain ...which you interpret as catastrophic and so on ...its a circle.

If you stand up and start breathing deep and fast long enough you can simulate a sort of panic attack ...your heart will race, you will feel dizzy, you might feel numb etc etc etc. These feelings/sensations are normal ..you need not to worry about it.

You are obviously not going to die as cat douchebag said, but leaving this fear "untreated" is not good as it might start messing with you and your daily routine.

Go to a doc.. I have anxiety and a panic disorder. I learned tools to help cope and in some cases cured..these tools or technics aren't for everyone.. And do some homework on cannabis, there are many strains that can even help some people's anxiety..
Learn what your smoking. Like ask before hand If it's indica or sativa.. Many sativa strains can put you in a ful psychosis..lol. Full on freak outs.. Good look

Seriously. Go see your Dr about it. Smoking the weed may have brought on anxiety. I have anxiety but I'm medicated.
I went to the doctor and he said that the anxiety is probably due to my heart beating faster because I had some inflammation in my chest muscles due to smoking
He said just aleve would get rid of the inflammation and also the anxiety, but I took aleve an hour ago and the pain in my chest is gone but I still have anxiety. Last night my anxiety was almost gone because I thought the doctor would know what to do. Now I'm anxious again the heavy heartbeat is back. I don't know what to do.

popping a xanax might help with the anxiety but there's a very strong chance it will become his crutches and he will get psychologically dependent on it. Every time he feels a little weird or afraid he will get a panic attack he will be popping the meds ... not good.

if we're talking about the start of an anxiety disorder it is very crucial how one deals with it as early as possible.
dylanw73 I've been where you are, I am also in the mental health business. My advice to you is to talk to a psychotherapist. Some deal specifically with anxiety disorders and treat them with brief cognitive behavioral therapy ..

That said ... chill the fuck out man, there's nothing physically wrong with you.
