Plasma Light Opinions

Has anyone ever used a plasma light? I've seen some videos/ads and done some reading and it's hard to actually get some real unbiased opinions.

I've seen maybe 3-4 popular brands for sale and they all seem to be around 300-400w, if a person wanted to cover a 3'x3' area, how would they compare to a 600w or 1000w light?

It's hard to believe anything written by people who are selling them, or selling the competition.

From what I hear, plasma lamps are gonna be big in the new year. I guess the price is supposed to really drop in the coming months. But like any other scuttlebut, I'll believe it when I see it. If you check the specs, I guess the PAR rating is supposed to be off the wall for plasma, their cooler, and cheaper to run. But then again 5 years ago I heard about the same thing about LEDs.

They are really difficult to buy the good ones from germany because they run at 400v. So you iether need to wire two 240's on capacitor yourself or buy the really expensive ones with step up transformer built into them. Your looking at a 2k investment for the ones that you just plug in
