Planting During Spring Time?

Whenever you start growing during the very beginning of spring, when will the plant begin to flower? Will it just grow throughout spring and summer until its fall and then begin to flower or will it happen before fall. If it does happen before fall... when does it happen?
 
The plant is triggered by the lengthening hours of night, so it starts sometime after the solstice. In my experience, most outdoor plants are triggered sometime in July, and then go into a rapid growth spurt and actually start showing signs of flowering during August.

Any other time of year that you put a plant outdoors, it will be induced to flower immediately, no matter the size or age.

Just like when we switch from 18 to 12 hours of light nature slowly switches back on the hours of light and that triggers something within the plant that starts flowering. Like Potroast said it is usually sometime during August.
 
Alright thanks. I'm planning on growing some plants starting in March. So if I did this they'll just begin flowering right from the start? Also how long will it take from start to harvest when the plants flower immediatly after sprouting.
 
I have read that sometimes you keep the plants untill they are about 4 inches on 18/6 skedule and than you reduce the light in a few weeks you should be able to tell boys from girls, the question is if you put them out lets say in mid april ,will they go back to weg cycle or are they gonna continue to flower?
 
They will definetly take the course mother nature intended and go back to veg. The only plants that won't are the autoflowers and the jury is still out on those.
While the days lengthen, the plants all veg. As the days shorten, the plants start to flower.

Circle of life and all that.
 
this is gonna start an arguement but i did it.


last year i started seeds and clones JAN 1 i veggged under 4' shop lights for 2 months. MARCH 1 i put evrything outside in a greenhouse.




the nights are longer than 12 hours because it is winter. THEY ALL FLOWERED. including my purple haze.


by the time the days got longer they were 3/4 done. they finished and i harvested the end of may. i had new plants in veggitive state right next to them.


check my gallery and read the description with dates on my winter crop.



i will say growth was extremly slow. almost killed then in the beginning due to over feeding. they need very little in the winter. buds aren't as dense. but i had smoke to get me thru the dry times.
 
last year i kept hearing if you took an indica strain flowered indoors for at least 2 weeks, then put it outside in the middle of summer it will continue to finish flowering. i haven't tried this but i did have issues with some strains (had 8 different). it got to cold for a few weeks and they stopped growing. by the time it warmed up days had lengthened. had to carry them inside to a dark room every night. some people use blackout tarps but that's a whole nother thread.


i went to several other sites and tried to talk about this and everyone said i was either in Australia or crazy. so i expected flak. got none here.

You've got me very curious now and not on the I love you comment but instead the flowering with lengthening days. I'm going to give it a try this next season myself and hope for the best. The effects could be very beneficial on bud size/density.
 
i picked up some Chemo last year at my club. it was maybe mid june. i potted it put it outside and it just started to flower. by the end of august it was done. some of the densest bud i have ever grown. all i can figure is maybe the clone came off a flowering plant. something triggered it. if i knew i would do it to everything. no rain storms or fall weather...
 
Once a plant is flowering, it will continue to flower unless it gets enough light every day for enough days to cause it to revert to veg. It has to do with the "critical daylength" of that strain.

Putting a plant outside in March is tricky, it will flower, but may revert to veg before it's finished.

I've only done outdoor once, G:)D shit, easy to expecialy in Californias central valley.
Anyways I've heard of up to 3 crops per year in a greenhouse with shades.
 
buddys up north are put flood tables in green houses with blackout shades. you can't give weed away in northern california right now. talk about flooding the market.
 
i´m going to start growing some plants here in spain this week - the winter has been very mild indeed. so i thought i might try a few plants just to see waht happens. it can get to 25 degrees here still but cold at night, so i was going to bring them in at night. any thoughts ?
