got a 250w hps about 12 inches away from it and got a fan on it

You're bulb has to be shit, 12" from 250 watt hps should be too close.. that's stretching for more light.

I basically bought it as a kit buddy so the reflector, digital ballast and the bulb and the digital ballast is running at 250w
