Planted seed question

I germinated a seed a found the other day, and stuck it in a spongy planting cube and watered it. I put it under 3 CFLs and checked back up on it today. Today I looked and the cube was completely dried out and crisp to the touch. I re-watered it, but what I am asking is if my plant will never see its first day of light, or will it be ok now that I re-watered it?

Put a QT Slurpee dome over it or place it in a baggy (resealable burrito bag. I sprout my seed in the dark.

your seeds don't need any light until it pokes out of the soil and the shell comes off the first leaf sets. Try not to let it dry out, you need to check on things at least once a day.
