Plant waste.

Just curious. Back in the 80's we smoked the whole plant except for the stems.

Why only smoke the buds and throw the rest away? Seems wasteful.

Smoking leaf is harsh and takes a lot to get a buzz. Smoke the flowers and everything else gets processed into some kind of concentrate. The whole plant can be used for many medical extracts and you just want the keif off the stems and leafs for rec use. No point In smoking sugar leaf straight up when it's weak and unpleasant but can be used to make perfectly fine bho or baked into something yummy

I remember it being harsh. But we smoked it anyway.

Yeah no reason to do that to yourself. I would much rather take 1 dab of trimmie tasting bho then need to smoke a whole blunt of trimmings. There's no reason to do any of that when the cooking oil extract s will be exactly the same no matter what part of the plant it comes from.
