plant sprouted, but tips are turning brown

i planted my seeds 1 1/2 - 2 weeks ago and just today i noticed one sprouted. it is about 1 1/2 inches. but one of the little leaves has a brown tip. is this a problem? what should i do?

are you giving them tap water cause the chlorine can burn the tips of the leaves

uhm. yes. i heard that i should let the water sit out for a few days, this true? should i use bottled water? and how often should i water them?

i use tap water also and i just do like you said let it set for at least 2 days and only give it a small cup every 2 to 4 days pending on temp if it is a small plant

also water out of the tap: use a mixture of hot and cold but let it run 4 at least 30 sec read this somewhere on the int it seems to work 4 me

i have the same prob im writin it off as crap tap water my tap ppm was 180 in my dwc 3 week old sprout show signs like burns

hey guys i have the same problem as santeria. my sprout is about 2cm high and it has a little brown dot on the tip of the leaves but the other problem is it has been sprouted for about 2 days and the leaves havent split open. i no that this is a burn from using tap water but is there anyway i can fix this to produce a happy little sprout. and is it normal that the two leaves havent split open. could it be caused by the burn? thanx

I have never used anything but tap water.. I let it sit. I live in Montana so we don't really add anything too much to our water like chlorine and the like. Plants grow just fine without over complicating it. A little brown spot probably isn't anything to worry about. It's when you get huge spots and dead leaves that you need to start wondering what's going on. Little sprouts are new and need to get used to things. Don't over water them and keep the light as close as you can so they don't get leggy but not so close that you burn them with the heat they don't need any kind of nute at such a young age.Keep a fan blowing on them too it helps to strengthen the stems and keeps the heat off them too. im not growing these under lights i am going to bonsai the plant meaning put it in a pot and grow outdoors. its the aussie way other than hydro. so does this mean i can fix what this dot by feeding it pure water and can someone tell me if its normal for the sprout not to have split its leaves yet. its been two days. also what does leggy mean?
