plant set up question

i have a 2x2x7 grow box. i also have a 400 watt hps with flat while paint on the outside and proper ventilation and im using soil.
what methods would you use to get the most yield out of this situation.
for ex lst,fim,top you know

most yeild is not a issuse sound like u are new and doing the research

at this point u have a few mistakes
1 hps is ment for flowering not growing u want a MH and a HPS light
2 have u picked photo plants or auto plants
3have u grown that strain before
and the rest depend on the strains

as for advice ..........pick a auto flower something with 2/4 oz and use 3 gallon pots and learn once those grow in u will get something in return and u will learn they are fast growing so u can try several strains at once

once u know the strain then it all depends on that with topping scrogs and so on ..............frist grow it and then learn to get it dence then pick one of those to increase the yeilds

LOL.....when I read the grow are info and lighting I came up with a totally opposite suggestion than justugh.

While you don't have a ton of floor space, you do have plenty of vertical space. I would go with one plant...a fem will save you time.

If this is your first grow, you want a plant that's pretty durable, can suffer newbie mistakes, and end up with a good yield. Click on my "Mataro' Blue" grow in my signature. It's a plant that would fit nicely in your space, and I can tell you that you won't be disappointed.

As far as topping and such.....first grows should be kept simple. Don't try to do too many things at once. Doing one topping about 5-6 weeks in veg will increase your yield a bunch. Keep in mind your floor space limitations as you don't want to top too many times.

As far as vegging with an HPS.....well, justugh is correct. Plants like vegging under 6000K-6500K spectrum....HPS is around 2700K. Fortunately, setting up a correct light-spectrum, especially for one plant is pretty cheap. Get a couple 100w CFL's and hang-em above your plants. That'll get you to your flower stage and your HPS light.
