plant Problemss! gimme a hand peoples

alright so just some background info, im growing (attempting) 2 plants which a little over 2 weeks old, they are grown under 8 cfls. i just transplanted them from small party cups, and they are in a seed starting type soil(not the best i know)... okay now the problems, first of all, they are looking a little small for 2 weeks, and over the past couple days, the bottom leaves have been curling up and turning brown, so of course this has me very concerned..... its just really frustrating becuase i realize this is my frist grow so it wont be perfect. but i mean cmonnn, what am i really doing that is so wrong?! any advise will really help!

hey cutie, you look neglected

im talking to the plants they look burned a little not much, as the seedling needs energy to create more roots it will kill off the lowest leaves its fine just give it water till it green, what in your soil that will determin what yo feed your plant look up or write down its additives and we can give you an idea of what to get or do

rule of thumb until you see three sets of leaves no nutes and their are probably nutes in that soil, just stick it out and just water unless you want to go purchase a good top soil or as close to inert soiless medium possible and re-transfer( not sure how shocked they are now but could be bad not recommended) is what to plant clones or sow seeds into before ready for a nutrient regiment

but they started to curl up like that before i added anytype of nutes

Your soil will have been amended with additives that when watered give off nutes not alot, unless oyu have mychrorizea(ecto's and endo's) in there

also i said that seedlings will kill lower leaves to help rooting

you should have left them in the small cups unitl grown more but your fine, find out if additives are in your soil,

also you dont want to over water, just a little maybe a quarter of a cup at first, damp soil not wet soil

way to test is if you put pressure, not a lot, on soil water should never be dripping out, but should still have moisture visible in soil at least a couple in down, check by sticking finger in soil not digging it up

alright man thank you, so you think they will be alright? what about that size matter? shouldnt they be bigger than that

Seed starting soil has little to no nutrients......it will start your seedlings just fine but after 7--14 days you should transplant into nutrient rich soil......then no feeding until your plants show slight signs of deficiencies....I would start over if I were you those are pretty bad......sorry

alright, so say if i were to start over and use something like fox farm soil.. would my plants grow much better? like does the type of soil really have that big of an effect with size and whatnot?

Better soil can = better results but you have to do it right......start in your party cups with the seed starter soil......once your plants have about 2-3 sets of true leaves transplant them into fox farm soil or roots organic or whatever quality soil you can get your hands on.....these soils will have plenty of nutrients to last a while...so you would only have to water with plain ol water when your pots feel pretty light.......if you keep it simple and let your plants just grow without interfering too much you will have a healthy bunch.....
