Can someone explain why plant pots have to be so big I think (small pots) limits growth of roots which effects the plant but I would like more detail

Plants get root bound and when that happens roots stop growing and when root stops growing plant stops growing..............

So size of budz isn't effected but the plant will start it's deline earlier making the buddz not as potent or will size be hampered as well as low potency

Wow hey man if you want big plants use big pots, or better yet go DWC it easy and at least 4 plants can consume a 10 gallon container comfortably without problems.

Someone told me that a small pot will make a small plant which I agreed but I told him that it would effect the buddz in the long run but I needed some expert advice to confirm that since he has tiny pots and has already started flowering

When people say full potential they are talking about potency, eye appeal, yield, smoke, overall growth of plant.

Just plants your seed direct into a 3 gallon pot, that way you save time and stress of transplanting in future

You only need to "pot up" enough to keep your ladies from choking. Keep an eye on em. if you're worried about it, wait until just before a watering, and pop the soil out of the pot just enough to peek at the roots coming out the sides. Being a little root-bound is ok, but you don't want the roots to choke. I think a lot of the new guys use pots way bigger than they need cause they're so scared of being root-bound.
I start my clones in 4" pots, transplant once when they need it to 6" square pots and harvest out of those. (about 18 weeks total between veg and flower). Good soil is expensive, don't waste more than you have to.

Can 3 plants live in a 4.5 gallon pot since 1 plant can live within a 1 gallon pot?

Can they live yes, thrive probably not.
One plant usually becomes dominant and takes all the alloted nutrients.
I have grown 3 plants in a 15 gallon container outdoors, only by accident all three turned out to be female. Ihave had two plants finish nicely in a 5 gallon bucket just pull the weakest one.
