Plant looking small

Mornin from south florida ! I am currently on my first grow and I decided to go the organic way, this is a sort of test run for my future grows ( not expecting everything to go perfect). Im growing a random bagseed outdoors in miracle grow organic soil. Its been raining every couple of days every since I planted so I rarely need to water the plant, but I am very concerned on its size. The plant was a one inch seedling on September 29th, so its been about 8 weeks since that day. The plant is not nearly as big as I expected or as I have read or seen. It looks perfectly fine all around, nice buds, healthy leaves, no bugs. I know the buds are not ready yet because i checked the trichomes with a microscope, but being 8 weeks in and only being about a foot in length is getting me worried. Any advice or tips would be appreciated ! Thanks

There is nothing wrong with your plants other than the timing of your planting. At my latitude (45) on September 29th there is only 11hours and 50 minutes of daylight and as of today it has decreased to only 9 hours. Marijuana is photoperiodic meaning that its reproductive cycle is triggered by the number of hours of light vs dark. It normally starts at about 14/10 and is in full flowering mode at 12/12, you started yours at 12/12 and they are now getting 9/15. This triggered them not only to flower as soon as they had vegetative growth, but to do so quickly, and that accounts for their size and lack of development. There will be nothing wrong with the bud just not very much of it. Those same seeds planted in mid May and tended properly may have yielded any where from 0.5 - 2 pounds each depending on the genetics.

Like said above, your timing was just a bit late.

This is one major benefit to indoors, we control when the light drops to 12/12.

They wont get too much bigger, just ripen up. To tell when prime picking is you can use a microscope (or a really nice DSLR camera) to look at the trichomes (crystals) and see how the color has changed from clear - cloudy/opaque - amber. This will tell you when youre ready to dry it. Expect to lose about 75% of the weight to water loss but you have come so far make sure you cure it!

I dont 100% agree with the wording on the chart, but the pics give you an idea.

Thanks alot guys ! I was suspecting it had something to do with that as the sun began to go down much earlier. So there is only one prime time to grow during the year, which would be mid may for my area? and I have four seedlings now i guess they will just end up like this one.

Unless you supplement with additional light indoors, yes they will begin to flower as soon as they physically can. It varies for your location, here in colorado we have had 4 snows before halloween so its a big change to your south florida where your season is longer.
