Plant leafs clawing w/ yellow tips

Hey guys,

Got these Hindu Kush going under a 600w MH. Cant seem to solve this problem. Originally thought I was over feeding, so I gave a phed water feed and stopped feeding mutes for a week but no luck.

Growth is slow, plant looks droopy. They are in 5 gallon fabric pots. Pro mix HP medium getting fed every watering with Flora series by GH. I water about once every 3-5 days depending when the pots get light. I keep ph between 5.5-6 . Been using the GH feeding chart 1/2 dose.

These plants are about a month and a half in veg from seed and smell more then any plant iv ever grown, had to put my carbon filter in veg. About 1 ft tall.

Please if you can let me know what I can do to bring them back from looking like this. Thankyou.

Aim for 6.5 in Promix.

Like they say above, I would up the ph if it were me. I'm watering between 6.5- 6.8.

Ok Im going to aim for 6.5 from now on then see if that helps. I'll keep this updated. I use promix outside and have never had problems at 5.5 but rain water could have been buffering it for all I know.

The only thing I see wrong is that you overfed a bit, just a little bit.

Other than that, they look great in my opinion. Your ph has been working for you, no signs of issues.

I say lighten the feed a touch and grow on.

Dial in your pH...and the slight issues you may have will most likely subside. You're not that far off...but your pH is going to keep you from that last little bit if you don't dial it in as most here have suggested. Good luck.

Ok guys so i raised my ph just a little and the plants seem to be abit happier. The claw and tips haven't gone away though. One plant has this yellowing leaves.

The pic below is off one plant out of 4 that seems to have this yellowing going on. The rest are all green. This was the tallest of the 4 and I had to raise the light as it came 15" from the MH. Could it be light damage? Only affecting maybe 2-3 leaves in the middle of the plant. All side branches have green leaves no yellow no burnt tips.

If your new growth is coming in green and remaining that way, don't fret the older leaves. You just made your corrections; anything growing before this point may or may not show the issues you were having before the corrections. Ignore them and move forward. If your newer growth begins to look like your pic, then you can start worrying again. Have faith in your pH corrections and be patient.

I based what I said on a search of this forum and what the majority of people were using for pH in promix HP, which was about 5.8-6.2

Also if I'm reading that article right what do they mean the water PH that you're using is irrelevant? Maybe I'm not understanding that statement correctly, especially before coffee but it says that twice?

I think different pH levels seem to work for different growers. I have personally had the best luck with peat based mixes at 6.5.

Thanks for the help guys and interesting read beach! All I use is pro mix hp so within the next couple of grows I will definatley do some expirimenting. I know outdoors in my area I have a sweet spot at about 5.8. But the plants seem to be reacting abit diffrent indoor. Going to keep this grow between 6 and 6.5 throughout tho since they seem to have liked the raise.

The genetics I'm using are from a Canadian LP and have many reports online of Mutations and abnormalities. as a new grower with only one successful run under my belt it's been a challenge trying to figure out what's a mutation and what's an actual problem lol.

I'll keep you folks updated how they react thanks again for all the help!

I'm not sure what they mean on the "irrelevant water PH" as well.
I do know most growers do PH in the ranges you posted for Promix. I was just giving what the Promix team suggested for PH.
Last summer I grew outdoor in Promix in fabric pots and left my water as it came out of the tap, which was 190PPM and a PH of 7.5 to 7.8 along with crappy miracle gro 12-4-8 and had no issues from seed to harvest.
Inside this winter, same medium, better nutes, better PH control, and have had constant issues.
Go figure, lol

Lol I'm glad you said that because I read it twice and couldn't figure it out, so had coffee then read it again and still don't know what they're talking about!? LOL

I often use Promix and add lime. Never have ph issues. Never even check ph of anything anymore. Seems like I’m dodging a big headache as I have other things to do then chase down ph issues. Lots of ugly leaf symptoms that I never want to see. Add lime. To hell with the ph drama.

The package claims it's already got Dolomitic and Calcitic Lime but I gather just not quite enough? How much more lime would be needed for a 5 gallon bucket.

It's overwatered bro!!!!
That's why it looks all droopy and sad like that....
It needs more oxygen.....

I guess I have always thought it best to water at a slightly different ph every time. The plant takes in different nutes at different ph levels so as long as I'm within my range I'll go higher or lower depending on what I watered at last. But I dont know much lol. Maybe I'm totally wrong.
