I have two wonderful and gorgeous babies, One of which is ready to harvest, the other still has a bit to go, maybe a week or two.

TRYING TO GET THE ABSOLUTE BEST JABHUDDHA POSSIBLE... aren't we all!

+++ I am willing to throw out some rep(s) for folks who can answer any or all of my questions. Looking for solid/accurate/valid advice so I can get the best smoke.

This is my first solo effort at growing, and my first time using CFLS. I have been around and helped with other grows and harvests, but drying/curing is new to me. So this is very exciting for me, I just want to do it right and all my reading and the banging advice all the RIU members are giving me are paying off. Lets keep it up one more round so I can get some kill fire!!!!! :fire:

I will have more pics and info on both plants as well as the progress of the other plant that is still flowering a bit longer. might take this one to 10-12 weeks.

Have been feeding with just water and molasses for last few weeks, had a few major flushes molasses and just lots of hard water. Now we are ready to take her down.

Got a pocket scope, 60-100x - trichs are all cloudy with some amounts of amber heads, very very few clear boys if any by this point. Almost all pistils are deep orange/amber and receding more and more on the daily.

Very Sativa in traits, have had a few experienced growers say that they (as in both, but only focusing on this one for now) are a mix of sat/ind but primarily sativa. (after seeing them in person, not via pics) Kind of surprised, I was told sativa take 8-12 and possibly more, but according to the trichs and eyes she is looking very ready now.

Sorry for the pic quality, way more frosty in person, but looks good to me. Buds are pretty big for what I have been seeing/reading for cfls.

And now for my questions:
**** If you do reply please try to let me know what question you are addressing so I can follow advice easier, maybe state the question #. Thanks so much!

I have read numerous threads like harvest..a tutorial, and many other posts, I enjoy getting first hand responses from all you fine folks too, that way I can come up with a personal average and maybe a small addendum to plan.

Quick question(s) for all you fellow growers. I have been reading and inquiring about curing for a bit now, and understand the process and kinda have a set plan on what I will do, but have a few small issues I would like to get personal opinions or stories on.

1. Is there anything you can cure it with to give extra flavor or smoothness, I have heard of using different peels or rinds, but to me sounds like mold waiting to happen. Whats the story with this?

2. I am curious, some say to put the trimmed nugs in paper bags a few days after hanging/drying and then to the jars. Is there any benefit to this? or is going straight to air tight jars ok?

3. Other than extra water in the stem/stalk and elongating the drying process, is there any pros or cons to hanging the whole chopped plant rather than individual branches? Is it true that the last bit of energy, sugar, and water gets "drained" to the tops? (I read some who believe strongly, and other who think this is a crok) What do you guys think?

4. Is there a too long to cure, I understand its like booze and other things "the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice" it gets better with age, but is there a point where peak thc and potency starts to decline? Can you over-cure?

5. Does it make a difference if you have smaller jars where when full there is not much space to move or air in there, or to have a huge jar where they can move freely with more air inside?

6. When burping or airing out you jars/bud I assume you wipe out any extra moisture off the inside of the jars, but how long do you let the buds air out for, I have heard just shake em around inside, let them sit for a few min outside jars as well as let them sit from half to a full hour them put them back in the jars. What did you guys do or is a good estimate? I plan to "check" a good number of times a day at first, then slowly back off to about once or twice as the time goes by.

7. I have read some do not fine trim till after drying, but found it to be more tricky since they get crispy, I plant to trim before I hang. Also I have seen and read some people who "pull" but actually cut "trim" most of the fans leaves and minute growths the day before the chop. Maybe giving more of a light penetration and sugar/and what not uptake for that last day of light and dark period prior. Any thoughts, pros, cons on this matter? Will it harm or help at all by doing this?

8. For drying, I have seen do not put fans directly on and other say it does not matter. What do you think, can you negatively effect plants if the air is directly on them? I know light degrades thc at this point so must remain dark. Are there a range of temps/humidity that we should stay at. At what point does light stop degrading thc, Does the entire curing process need to be in the dark or after a while can they just bask in the open space while still in the jars?

9. And just for kicks how long do/did YOU cure in the jars for?

Sorry for all the inquiries, I just want to make it my best effort and be able to use this grow for future knowledge. Measure twice, cut once.....IF Ya dig!!!

Again thanks everyone for any input , comments, or advice

I cant help you with your questions but I can give you props on that plant...looks very good...Good job

Hey man, your well more experienced then me judging by the quality of those nugs. Can you set up a journal or list the specs of your room and show us all how it was done.

A dry weight gram to watt ratio would be nice too!

thanks!

Ill definitely try and answer some of your questions but im not uncle ben, hopefully some way more knowledgeable people are gonna drop by and enlighten us!

1. Is there anything you can cure it with to give extra flavor or smoothness, I have heard of using different peels or rinds, but to me sounds like mold waiting to happen. Whats the story with this?

Personally never tried this, dont think i will either, just in case.

2. I am curious, some say to put the trimmed nugs in paper bags a few days after hanging/drying and then to the jars. Is there any benefit to this? or is going straight to air tight jars ok?

Dont go straight to jars, hang for a few days or a week first, otherwise to much moisture will get trapped in the jar and the buds will rot. I think the paper bag is an alternative, 'quick dry' method.

I think someone needs to take a brix meter and settle this once and for all!

4. Is there a too long to cure, I understand its like booze and other things "the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice" it gets better with age, but is there a point where peak thc and potency starts to decline? Can you over-cure?

You can dry bud out too fast and that makes it harsh, dunno about overcuring. ive never had the patience to wait that long.

5. Does it make a difference if you have smaller jars where when full there is not much space to move or air in there, or to have a huge jar where they can move freely with more air inside?

Im intrested in the answer to this too but would tend towards big jars for curing so the buds dont all sweat on eachother.

I plan to "check" a good number of times a day at first, then slowly back off to about once or twice as the time goes by.

do it by feel, if all the condensation dissapears when fresh air rushes in your alright, if it still feels hot and sweaty in there let it rest open for a while.

7. I have read some do not fine trim till after drying, but found it to be more tricky since they get crispy, I plant to trim before I hang. Also I have seen and read some people who "pull" but actually cut "trim" most of the fans leaves and minute growths the day before the chop. Will it harm or help at all by doing this?

I think the plant wants those last few nutrients and carbohydrates in the leaves during its last days.

Outdoor weed will still mold in a jar in the dark even tho botryis needs UV to live, so when it really matters darkness cant save a crop.

Im intrested in what others have to say about this darkness issue in terms of THC quality I heard a kid say he dry his 40% bubble hash in the sun and it certainly doesnt loose potentcy.

Dont put the fan directly on them tho, it will dry out the outside to quickly but the inside will still be wet, its more like letting wood dry then letting paint dry, you have to let it dry from the inside out with wood where as with paint you jus want the surface to dry very quickly.

9. And just for kicks how long do/did YOU cure in the jars for?
I had a bad experience with jars on my first run thus im biased towards drying as fast as possible and a bit cautious of curing, i like to hang it for 5-7days and its pretty crispy on the outside.

BTW i am a total newb but im just learning from my mistakes and other peoples successes.
