read up on trichomes on this site. then buy a $20 hand held microscope and look at them. you want to harvest before half of the trichomes turn amber.

Duuh :dunce: lol.

get the microscope.
Yeah. It was intended to be a bit sarcastic. It seemed like the OP was under the impression that a time calculation is how you determine when to harvest... and my point was that you don't go by TIME... you go by what the buds LOOK LIKE.

So yeah, get a microscope.

yep, there is alot of free information on this site as well as many others. Google is your friend and helps you grow nice buds.

Before the days of the computer I was a journeyman for an experienced guerilla farmer. He taught this young grasshopper the tricks of his trade and I went on to do well for myself on my own after the few years we worked together. Here on a new stint in the bush after yet another several year break in the action, I have learned to read all the info I can that's available from the internet and learned so many things that I never knew, nor did my old timer friend know.

I've done well but I now know that I can do much better my next time around.

For anyone who is considering growing for the first time. Read up all the info you can. Be prepared and plan ahead. For many of us, this is illegal and if you are going to take that chance its best to make that most out of it while you do it.

I was amazed at the amount of info out there for growing. I actually feel like I almost know what I'm doing, just from the research I've done. I've been reading sites like this one since April when some seeds I threw in the dirt sprouted. I was like, "what now?" "I have a plant, how do I keep it alive?"

Managed to get through sexing the plant, watching for buds, finding out what trichomes are, checking trichomes with the trusty scope, et al ad nauseum, just by reading up on what others were doing.

All the information is out there, you just have to go find it. Sites like this one are a godsend. I've spent hours upon hours reading the threads here.
