I'm adding this thread in the hopes that there are others like me who really enjoy photographing thier plants in an artistic light.

I invite you to post some of your nicest snaps in terms of artisic merrit as opposed to impressiveness of the grow. Its not to say pics of awesome grows arent fun to look at.

I'll get the ball rolling - took this one with the white balance way off by accident and it came out really cool. It was set to tungsten light and this was taken in natural light. (Canon 5D)

These two I put some art behind the plants and the shallow depth of focus blurred all the colours

Hope to see your pics soon!

By the looks of the photos so far I would hazard a guess to say these are DSLRs. Mine certainly is, its a Canon EOS 5D Mark2 and a serious bit of kit at that. Might set you back as much as £2000 these days, about $3100. Prices might very recently have dropped due to the release of the Mark3 though.

Then again technolgy is always suprising me, I bet after me saying that someone says 'Nope I used my phone' :)

nice, I wanted to get a 5D, but it was too expensive for me, so I settled for the Nikon...how's that full frame sensor working out for you?

Just checked both of those out, too much money for sure. No wonder they look so damm good
Honestly though you can pick up a nice SLR for much cheaper and its going to do alot of the same things the expensive ones do. You pay alot of money for the lenzes aswell so you can save by getting one second hand. You could probably sort out something very respectable for around the $600/$700 dollar mark

yeah, if you're on a budget, you can try to find a slightly older/second hand model...you could get a good camera for $200-250...
