pH

My pH level was a lil too high about 7.2 I bought pH 5.0 Seachem discus buffer, adjust pH to 5.8-6.8 Ive got it about 6.6 right now but my question is, is this stuff safe to use on plants?

according to a search, its a phosphate based buffer designed for use in non planted aquariums. not designed for planted ones only because of the phosphate promoting algae, which is not really an issue with growing plants. says that it can be used in planted aquariums though.
im using a bottle of rust convertor i had in the shed, its just 35% phosphoric acid. a drop in a 2L bottle and my pH is down to 6.5 from about 8.
