If im not mistaken it just balances it out to around 7.0, why and how could you possibly over do it though if you just do some research on application process.
Cheapest method? Flush your plants with a very large amount of low ph water, it wont do much quick but after a while itll start to drop. What soil are you using? Some will hold to much water and will waterlog the pot, either way just flush.
