What type of PH Test Kits do ya'll use? Can I use Litmus paper strips? Or what for soil testing? Thanks

*I grow what I eat & I smoke what I grow. Don't care about no peat and don't need to hoe!

Actually, I got a pretty good pH test kit for like 15.00 bucks. It included pH up and down, a vial to test the water, and a water dropper, with the developer of course. It's been working great. You should get the phone book and look up the nearest hydroponics store in your area.

I have the same question? How do you test soil ph? I get the water ph part but it appears you need to check the soil as well? Fill me in please?

Thanks.

Litmus paper works but is the least accurate. For testing your water/nute mix go to your local Pet Store and you can buy PH test kits (for aquariums) Make Sure its Salt and Fresh water test kit. I prefer the wide range 4.5-9 PH. The liquid tests are the cheapest unless you want to buy a digital PH test stick, then you just put it in the water and it give you the PH.

For testing Soil PH go to local garden store/ nursery and you can find digital PH soil testers. If you dont want to buy a digital one you can use the same liquid PH test kit you use for your reservoir and just test the PH of the runoff.
