PH Meter Recommendations

I need some recommendations for buying a PH meter.
This will be for a Hydro grow.

I have been researching and see that the cheap ones use some kind of cloth or cotton... something that needs to be ...snipped off after every use?
And then there is digital ones, but you have to also buy different buffering solutions?
Confusing to me. I currently have just PH strips and there kinda a pain.

Any recommendations on make, model and price range to buy and any other help would be appreciated.

Yea man, those strips are pretty hard to really tell, and I think they are generally useless other than a ballpark figure.

I use a cheap digital meter, I think I paid $70 or something. Just look on ebay or a hydro shop should have a cheap model. Mine came with buffering solution, and the hydro shops sell extra as well.
You need to re-calibrate the meter every once in a while with the buffering solution, so it's kindof a must have to be truly accurate.

Very Happy with my Oakton Instruments pHTestr Basic. Haven't even had to change the batteries yet in over 12 months. It is also somewhat economical at around $70.
