pH keeps on a'risin...

I have been acidifying the water with vinegar(*) (and some hydrogen peroxide to prevent sliminess and algae) before topping up my Waterfarm. I had the pH at a very nice 5.3 last night. This morning it is at 7.1: PPM has risen from 950 to 990.

I have two plants in the Waterfarm; one is a very healthy little 3-node bush (just started LSTing - I have high hopes for her). The other is not looking so good -- lots of yellowing caused by being planted too close to the drip at first -- but I'm hoping for recovery since I'm still seeing growth on the top).

Other than getting pH Down, any other suggestions for stabilizing pH. I'm using tap water which has 7.2 - 7.4 pH and 63 - 80 ppm (it's some of the best in the country): based on the nutes (General Hydro) the pH should be staying in the low 6s at least.

(*) I know I need pH Down, but haven't had a chance to get to the hydro store this week and figured that vinegar was better than nothing.

DONT use vinegar to adjust ph, you must get ph down (non organic) also I live in an area that has water with a very high ph from the tap...... it just doesnt work, if available get distilled or r/o water

Never use hydrogen peroxide on plants that young That is why your getting yellowing and it will start on the other one also. Clean your res. imediately and go a week clean water. I got a ph down from a local aquarium store and it is juat a few drops per gallon. As far as hydro goes the more nutes the more your ph will go up. Some companies now have products that can help and they do for a while till it is time for a res. change. Good luck

Since getting pH Down at a local aquarium store, the problem has been solved. My Double Gum is now luxuriating in a 5.4 +/- stew of nutrients and growing nicely: the slime has even vanished.

You will find that PH will rise, if you use Tap water. The callcum acts as buffer.
In my experance most Nutes will lower the PH, but this effect is less obviose in tap water, in RO water you will hardly need any PH down, but you will need PHup to stablise your water.
If you want Stable water you must use RO or Distiled or any other Pure water and then ballance, the Nute Strengh, PH, and Buffer with your plants needs, it's quite difficult but you will get there.

If you continue to use Tap Water you will have to use a lot of PHDown and may have Magnsum Diffencys, but you can still grow good weed so don't stress.

If your PH starts goind down, then you have met the PH rule and will need to change the Rez as it will get incressingly harder to stablise PH.

If you ever get a sudden unexpected PH of 4.3 to 4.8, it can be an early sign of root rot, or the presanse of the funguse that courses it.

You need to pay attention to rising a lowing PH and PPMs, it's your plants way of telling you what they need.

Thanks Mr. Green Jeans:) About decided tap water is a the only way possible for me..and you definitely correct in that it always high ph. Now how about a human food supllement magnesium tablet in the water bowl periodically? Thanks

not to sure about that, I would be worried about how it doesolved into the water. Last thing you want is your drippers or pumps getting clogged. And you need to be carfull what you put into your REZ, supplements offten use surgar in the ingreadents.

I'm not sayin no, but I don't think I would do it my self.
