Ph issue please help (4.5)

I know lime and baking soda are a way to raise your ph in soil.. my ph as it was just tested is 4.5 how would i apply that into a 5 gal bucket with soil just mix any of the 2 with water and pour it in ?

I would use pH up & Down. It's no more than 10.00 dollars and works like a charm. Adjust your water with it, then water.

Water with whatever you used to adjust pH. It's ok.

the soil is at 4.5? that sounds low. Have you researched on RIU or googled what ideal soil PH levels should be? might warrant a cursory dig.

yes, get a ph UP & Down product. they aren't expensive, and adjust your water(mix) before going into containers.

some lime, like dolomite only stabilizes, but yes others can raise it. Lime has to be in wet medium, and it needs contact with all the medium. I would look at trying to get it really mixed into a container. or if you haven't started, mix that in first with the medium. Wood ashes work too to raise soil PH

Soil pH is affected by watering, nutes, salts, etc. Give a good decent watering until plenty of run off is available. I'd water with nutes at a pH of about 7.0 just to bring things up, measure the pH of the run-off. Continue to do so until you're were you want to be pH wise with waterings. I use nutes every other watering.

You're going to get pissed trying to adjust the pH to proper levels with lime and baking soda. They are very touchy. Start with a teaspoon, test it, then adjust accordingly.
