im using a rdwc system,
My set up has been fine so far, I’m 3 weeks in to veg and I’ve noticed over the past 2 days my ph has started dropping last night it was 5.8 then I’ve got home from work tonight and it’s dropped to 5.7 and my ppms have risen slightly?
Sorry if this sounds like a newb question it’s my first hydro grow, and I’ve googled but can’t find much that’s helpful
Cheers.

i like letting my pH drift from 5.5 to 6.1 personally.and it's less ph up and down you need to keep adding.

if your pH starts dropping a lot, look for signs of root rot issues.
Ok thanks mate appreciate the advice, I’ve added a dose of silver bullet which is supposed to keep roots healthy, I’m using AN nutes so think maybe I had them to concentrated as I’ve heard there apparently quite strong

They are strong lol
I find a plant can sit at 4.7 for a few days before showing leaf crinkle

So not much to worry about if you stay at 5.5 to 6.5 the whole time youll be just fine...

This is one thing im quite happy about my new nutes

Since i was so used to my nutes raising ph over time

I didnt realize my new nutes make the ph FALL. I thought i had some issues haha
Would go from 5.8 to 5.4 overnight 8hrs or so

Now that i know it i love it cause i dont need ph down or up much at all.

When my ph hits 5.5 i add more plain water till it hits 6.3 then a few days later it will fall again

It works great so far :)

What nutes are they bro? Well invested in AN at the mo but when these are gone probably going to be looking for a new line afterwards

I havent finished a grow with them so i cant fully recomend 100%
But so far they are great

When i switchex i narrowed it down to
Mega crop (basically dry advanced nutes;))
Veg+bloom and jacks and chem gro 420

I chose the chem gro by hydrogardens.

I think if a company has been around since the 60s tailoring crop specific feeds for EDIBLE crops
And they make a weed formula im going to try it lol

As a bonus its cheap and almost crystal clear in a res :)

After you start dumping tons of advanced down the drain you realize how retardedly expensive they are

I have never had a nutrient help me grow better

Ive used advanced ,gh,botanicare for years and others for stints

All did what they where supposed to some i like better then others

But i never had a problem i could straight say was the nutes and not me or the environment lol

Il have to look into them, maybe give them a go.
I’ve got my bloom an nutes turning up this week and going to flip on Sunday. Hopefully I do alright with them haha!
I get what u mean not exactly the cheapest nutes on the market don’t know why I was just drawn to them. Used Dutch pro before got on ok with that but heard there’s a lot bette rout there.
Going off topic a bit I’m on my first rdwc grow, I heard when I flip to carry on using veg nutes for a week? Do you know this to be true or to help better growth?

Advanced is fine i used them for over 7 years i think ;)
I only bought the additives for the first year or 2 then just ran the base nutes :)

Used gh for a few years 3 ish same with botanicare.

They are all good just slight differences :)

Like i quit gh cause i hated the taste and now i can tell when ever someone is growing with Gh trio haha.

Botanicare made some tastey sweet buds with the purebend but its soso in water culture but i might try it once more

RAW nutes looked promising except the price to play lol with rdwc you dump lots of good nutes haha

I’ve got all the bloom additives still a bit of a newb and thought fuck it il give it a go lol
What was the taste like with all the additives of an?
And do you still run veg nutes for the first week of flip?
Cheers bro

You can run veg nutes for the first week no probs

The taste that advanced gives is meh just by itself. The additives can help some but mainley taste is dependant on how you dry and cure and dont fuck up too bad during the grow.

Just my oppinon is all nutes even organic will impart certain flavors dont care what anyone says if you grow two plants in the exact same manner and dry them the same
You can taste a difference between the two ...i can lol. And i feed lightly plus flush at the end til i get a nice fade :)

botanicare still tasted best to me .
but i was running them cause i was being lazy and just letting the ph perfect do its thing.

I had ph pens and stuff before but after i started running advanced i stopped lol

But i bought a new meter and wana try doing it on point again haha

Biggest things to help flavor imo is to.grow cool
And when chop time comes make sure you got all the chlorophyll out of the plant as you can .
And give the plant some cool days before chop.

I am an old school guy where i give my plants a solid 24hrs of cold dark time before i chop
Whether or not it helps i just still do it out of habbit.

And above all dry SLOW and COOL as you can without getting mold and it will be tasty

Dry it too fast it will suck balls lol hope it helps

Cheers bro a lot to consider, will look into a few things you’ve mentioned and give some of it a go
Thanks for the advice bro feel like I’ve learnt something lol :bigjoint::-D

I've always heard that PH rise with lowered ppm's means the plant is hungry for more nutes, while PH drop with ppm rise means the plant has more nutes than it wants. That's a huge generalization though, there can be a lot of factors that may cause the relationship of PH and PPMs to change. Also, if you're going to try something new, I switched from AN to GH two part Floranova...more stable in regard to PH, but maybe it's because my own doing. The only worry I'd have is if your system recirculates, Floranova is like gritty motor oil...it shouldn't cause any clogs, but would be worth looking into before using..be careful with those bloom boosters. They can cause more problems than they solve. I always use ridiculously small amounts of them or at least at start. Happy growing bud hope all goes well!

Thanks for the detailed response bro!
Emptied half my res yesterday and just refilled with tap water ph’d to 5.8-6 ph is comfortable at 5.9 now and ppms have been lowered and plants seem decent now but will know for definite over the next couple of days.

Couple of pics what do u guys think?
The last one is one of my 2 stunted plants I’m now just using as guinea pigs, I’ve done a bit of monster cropping on it and been topped a couple of times seems to of grown pretty rapidly since monster cropped thou lol and whatever they produce is a bonus haha but not expecting much from them.
Also this is my first attempt at a scrOG.

Wow those babies look very healthy! How do you do your res changes, are they much more difficult than without scROGing? I've heard it makes res changes a nightmare. Is everything still going good?

Yo bro I have a main Rez that I have a tap in which runs from my water pump I just attach a bit of pipe and drain it into buckets then just refill with water and nutes works absolutely fine. I’m in a recirculating system and yeah everything’s even better now lol flipped last night waiting till Sunday then doing res change and starting bloom nutes, but they’re really filling the net out now and have 2 absolute monsters on the other side of the tent, a pal of mine see them tonight and reckons they will end up at least 10oz a plant for the 2 big ones I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed lol!:bigjoint::leaf:
