My water from the tap is PH 8.2 and 96ppm (.7 conversion).

Is it ok to use ph down in a bubble cloner? It takes about 20 drops to get it to 5.5 in the container im using, will that be ok? Will that have any adverse affect on the clones? even with the ph down the ppm only raises very slighly.

It does what it says in those bubbler systems. It shields the Water. Helps to keep bad stuff from growing and benefits roots.

ah ok, I dont think il be needing it for this but thanks for the info. I never usually use any additives in my dwc or cloner, only used superthrive as I have a bit there so I may aswell use it up. I find most/if not all of those additives are a waste of money.

Well I grow entirely in water so I have to treat it with something or things will begin to grow. It's just liquid compost. I use it to brew up in a tea before adding to my reservoir. 1 oz. of that stuff breeds out to treat 50 gallons of solution. Solved some root problems that I ran into.

PH down is fine in your cloner, though I would suggest you use 1 type over the other.

For PH down you can get either nitric acid or phosphoric acid. For blooming or rooting clones you'd want to go with the phosphoric acid, as the nitrogen in a nitric acid is known to slow down root growth and cause the plant to focus more on foliage, whereas the phosphor will help with the rooting.

As long as you have a good root zone environment you won't need any root additive (bennie or sterile) Bennies will naturally occur in your res if everything is the way it should be, not that adding more diversity can't help, but additives are not needed. Good things begin to grow in the water (aerobic bacteria), as long as the environment is correct (temp and DO). Also don't need any rooting hormone, though it may speed things up by a day or so, I never use the stuff any more, waste of money.

thanks for the advice.

mines phosphoric acid based ph down so im ok there.

I wouldnt usually buy any additives, just had some superthrive left from a small smaple so thought i may aswell use it up.

How long do the clones in a bubble cloner droop before standing up, i just cut about 50 clones there and some are still drooped over after about 40mins.. normal?

Never done it, but heard it's a terrible idea and that it'll muck up your res in no time.

PH down is cheap anyway.

Hey man, keeping your PH adjusted is a given. Though i wouldn't(and i'm sure alot of others wouldn't) recommend a drop from 8 down to 5.5 at one go. Even dropping your PH over 12hr incriments is ok, try not to drop by .5 at a time though, your ladies tend not to like it.

Peace

Well its not really a given as a lot of people suggest plain water only (un-ph'd), hence the thread.

I adjusted the water before putting any clones in, so they would have started on about 5.8-6, I would never adjust a clone/plant from 8 to 5.5 ever.

bro, don't use ph down or anything, when you use water in the cloner it should be the most pure water you can start with, thats what a lot of people find themselves having trouble with bubble cloners, i already posted on your last thread, and ill say this one more time bro, if you wanna have damn near 100% results, then go buy a case of aquafina ( 5$ ) and use that water....... it is PURIFIED! your cuttings will know and they will be very happy with you

I use my well water and thats it.......ph of 7.4-7.8 depending on if we get rain as it fluctuates with rain.

Some strains pop roots in as little as 5-7 days others up to 12-14 days.

All these optional extras, i don't bother.

I get water straight out of the tap in the bath, it has an EC of .3 it goes into the bucket. I add some nutes, no additives and aids or such, add ph down, 20 drops, however much it takes, and stick the lid back on. Never had an issue other than those i've caused through laziness. Nor do i ever check the EC of the res, nor the temperature. Clones root, grow and bud just wonderfully :)

how lng does it take you to get roots?

Depends on the strain and how close an eye i keep on the water level, as such rockwool saturation. Some strains i get roots out of the 1" rockwool cube within 3 days, others might take 8-10 days. Just make sure there's good humidity, a dome or such, and that it's warm enough, although first set of clones i did in my DWC bucket i didn't know what i was doing, didn't use humidity domes or anything, and they all still rooted.

I do both although i mainly try to use rockwool as it works well with the way i grow and my lifestyle, plus i bought it in bulk and have lots left, but once it's gone i'm going to read up on whether there's any room to improvement in my method, but i am a tad lazy at times :D They're pretty much the same thing though, infact thinking about it i could just push the clones stem all the way through the rockwool and simply use the rockwool as you would a neoprene plug or whatnot.
