pH and PPM meters

Anyone know of a low cost, quality ph and ppm meter for use in liquid not soil, or should I be more worried about testing the soil and not the brew I give to my plants??

these are what i got and both stay calibrated perfectly. i only recalibrated each twice so far and both times they were barely off calibration. i recommend both as i spent a lot of time making sure i can get something reliable without breaking the bank.(check ebay you could probably get it cheaper, i just put these 2 links so you'll know what they look like.)
 
For this kind of equipment, "low cost" and "quality" do not go hand in hand. For your ppm meter, I will say that the BlueLab truncheon is hands down the best tool on the market.

They dont need calibration and they carry a 5 year warranty. It's a probe thats coated in resin with a waterproof plastic covering. You can drop it into your reservoir and it'll be fine. You can drop it on the floor and it wont break. We actually had a bluelab sales rep come in and he was just tossing the things on the ground. They're indestructible. This is one part of growing where you should try not to skimp. Pay 110 for the bluelab, instead paying 30 to 40 time and time again for low quality meters
 
"You get what you pay for" that was what the hydro shop guy told me when I asked about pH and ppm meters. He suggested spending the $80 on a blue lab pH meter because they give accurate readings in under 5secs AND do not require weekly calibration like other models. I am sold and am saving up my $$ to get mine in a couple weeks.
 
Bluelabs.Amazon sells the ph and ppm meters together for a kickass price.Way cheaper then the hydro shops.Im thinking of ordering most supplys online now.First of all its way cheaper.Usually free shipping over 50 bucks.Costs me about 20 bucks in gas to drive to the hydro shop.Makes sense.

i dont have the bluelab truncheon i use hm digital but i second spending a little more and get quality gear. i bought cheap a few times and they constantly failed leaving me with a my pants down a few times with a bucket full of solution and no idea what my ph or tds was. since spending a little more i have had the same testers for a long time now and with the occasional calibration all is well. i now have brand new spares and new batteries on hand at all times too though
 
I have had few different kinds, even the bluelabs truncheon which is ok. But I would never try to save a buck over the bluelabs portable unit. Has temp, ec,ppm,tds and PH. I love it.
