I was just wondering if the ph mattered when you are doing a flush. I keep my ph between 5.8-6.2, and would like to save some ph down if I can. Thanks.

it does matter a bit because if you flush with water of say ph 10 it will raise your soil lvls..
actually, i read that white vinegar lowers the ph of water by about 1 point.. so if your water is neutral, add (i think 1 tsp/gal, have to re-read) and your ph should drop to 6.. in soil i heard 6-6.5 is a good number.. if you are aiming for 6, the white vinegar would be the cheapest way instead of buying ph down..

Hey thanks for the replies. I am growing in the cap ebb and gro, and my water's ph is around 7.2-7.5. I just wasn't sure cause I know the plants need an acceptable ph to take up the nutes, but if there isn't any nutes, it doesn't seem like I would need to adjust it.

I'm not familiar with this system. But you are using soil correct?
With our without nutes (you should feed these ladies) when growing in soil, you don't have to Ph. Some get bent sideways when I say this. But if you're growing in soil picture yourself with a quarter acre garden...that's pretty much a quarter of a football field. There are plenty of outdoor grows this big in NorCal. Nobody is Ph'ing a bazillion gallons of water per season, stirring it up and then retesting. If it comes out of the tap and a human can drink it, you're good to go with a soil grow. Nutes or no nutes.
When you say 'cap' are you referring to the company CAP that makes hydro equipment?

Yeah, CAP, it is a hydro setup, and am using hydroton for my media. Would it be any different than soil though?

ive never done it and other people would know better but i bet you would just use stright without ph ing it with no need for the chemicals in the ph solution you would wanna flush it out as well i think............ but i have to do this soon as well for the first time so post how it goes

How long do you leave the plants in the plain water for the flush? More than a little while and I think it's worth a little pH down, just get it below 7.

So this is a hydro grow, not soil. I'm just venturing into the world of hydro. I litterally have a 4x8 tray, res and rockwool slabs sittin on my patio waiting to go into my grow room.
Ph does matter in hydro...hydroton is hydro. To flush I would assume no nutes and properly Ph'd water would do the trick.

Thanks for all the replies guys, and gals. I am flushing my plants for 2 weeks before I harvest. I just ph'd my water and after 8 days of flushing the ph was at 7.2. I lowered it to 6.0. I don't really see why it would matter too much, but it can't hurt. Hoping I have some tasty buds next wedns.
