PH adjustment Question

Can you use lime and/or gypsum to make a solution for effectively adjusting water ph? Cheers.

No, lime should only be mixed into the soil to stableize the ph there. Also, fertilizer tends to be acidic and lime is alkaline, the two do not play well together. I would advise just useing a ph up and down. Earth Juice makes an all organic set of ph adjusters if your going that route, otherwise any brand will do.

There are home made remedies that can be used.

Personally I don't touch homemade style pH adjusters.


I use hydro pH down. 5ml added into 500ml of tap water and slowly adjust your nutes with this mixture.

For pH up I use potassium Silicat. Much needed potassium with the added benefit of increasing pH.



Another thing is to calibrate your meter frequently. I also store my pH meter in buffer 7 solution.
