peyote?

hey malbulja check out that link... its not as hard as you think to extract.

not a bad link, and step by step it's not too difficult. But to anyone that uses that tek, you may wish to replace the NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) with KOH (Potassium Hydroxide) as to reduce the possibility of an emulsion. The only downside to using KOH is that you have to use ~1.5x the amount of NaOH.

An alternative that I just though of.. would be to run the dried cacti through like a "honey oil extractor" if you will, and run some cold ass butane through the cacti (butane is non-polar, xylene is non-polar). Then you'd just have to do the polar part of the extraction.

thanx for the additional info...

thats a good idea with the butane... gonna have to try that.

? Peyote isn't alcohol... it contains mescaline, which is a hallucinogenic. You sure your dad didn't bring you back tequila? lol.

uh trust me dude, it's made into alcohol. The town where my dad lived they make it. My relatives bring it all the time. But it isn't somehting that's easy to come across in the US that's for sure. Oh and trust me it wasn't tequila, I'm mexican and I know what tequila is dude, you will be surprised at the alcoholic drinks available in Mexico aside from tequila.

now that I think of it, a tincture doesn't sound out of the realm of something I would attempt lol. Hopefully it was pretty ill bro :-D

It was, especially with a bombfire burning. But yeah dude, the Aztec's also took this peyote before battle and also to have visions so they can be "guided" by their god, or so they thought. Where my dad is from, peyote is everywhere, and many of them are decades old if not older.

Mescaline crystals can be easily mixed into alcohol, and Mexican Indians have been eating peyote buttons for hundreds of years so I guess its not that crazy an idea. Can you describe for us the physical effects of this drink so we can be sure it actually contained mescaline? And more importantly if it does contain Mescaline, where can we go to get some (what town is your family from)?

It felt weird, I took shrooms once in high school and that freaked me out but the peyote made me feel like I jumped out of my body, I guess I did hallucinate but I don't know how to explain the feeling. My dad was born In Nuevo Leon, there a a buttload of peyote there. My dad still has a few bottles and a couple hundred buttons, but I think that was just a one time thing for me. But I don't know where you can get some in the states.

Hey shepj, as you know I drink the slime....and I like it :) > i'm thinking of doing an extraction because i need to transport it, and it sure would be easier to move a bag of powder than either the fixings or the slime...

the question for me is, if you're getting pure mescaline, what about the other alcaloids? Are they separated out as contaminants.

To the best of my knowledge (not really into cacti at all, nor their chemistry lol), the mescaline should be separate from any shitty worthless alkaloids (along with the sludge).

If using an acid/base extraction:
DO NOT REPLACE XYLENE WITH NAPTHA, IT WILL NOT WORK.

^that is for everyone, not just you. lol.

Thanks. Anyone that knows for sure~please chime in... The last batch of Chimora (pedro-slime) that I made actually had an older participant telling me it was the BEST mescaline trip he ever had, including peyote. This guy has been doing it for 30+ years, so I'm happy to report I have the recipe down! :hump: His brother has connects with the native american church and we can get as much peyote as we want. He now wants to introduce the folks in the NAC to the chimora as a sustainable sacrament.

My point is always the same. I want my alkaloids! WHAAAA! I want all of them. I have a feeling that the other alkaloids have the same polar properties as the mesc itself, so they would not get washed out. My "understanding" of the chemistry is more practical than scientific. I know enough to extract the alkaloids in an acidic solution and about the buffering aspects/lack of buffering of distilled water....any Chemists with a cap C~come on, I know you're dieing to show your stuff kiss-ass i beg you

well.. here's how it is plain and simple:

If the alkaloids are similar to mescaline then they will probably have a close solubility, and they will get picked up.

As to inactive worthless alkaloids that aren't like mescaline, they will get thrown out.

to tell the truth I've never been disappointed with extracted mesc either so i guess I don't need to keep digging.
:peace:
