Okay, I get why people use acronyms and initializations instead of speaking all of the syllables of those words. It saves time, especially important in life and death situations. But why the fuck do all these emergency responders use GSW in place of gun shot wound, when saying the words 'gun shot wound' takes about half the time as the speaking the letters?

I made the mistake of keeping peeves insecurely. A breeding pair must have made it into the walls. Now I have to listen to the clicking and munching sounds of feral peeves in the walls at oh-dark-thirty. And there is no poisoning the varmints.
Worse, I've woken up with nibble marks on my extremities. Now I'm getting peeved.

GSW is quicker and under field radio conditions clearer.
